  • A Few Reasons To Get GPS

It has been almost 20 years since the Global Positioning System (or GPS) was made available for commercial use. Originally, this system was put in place in the 1970’s and 1980’s for use by the United States military. In the last 17 years, consumers all over the world have been able to take advantage of the unique advantages of the GPS system.

GPS works by continuous contact between the GPS device and satellites that are in orbit high above the Earth. The GPS units send signals to the satellites and the satellites do the same. The transmissions are received on each end and the location of the GPS device is determined by how long the transmissions take from the different satellites that was communicating with them.

So we know how it works. But what is it used for? GPS is used for providing navigation for people traveling in cars, planes or on boats in the water. As long as the GPS unit is kept on the surface of the Earth, you can find out your exact location. Additionally, when you put in your destination you will quickly have your route mapped out for you.

But one way that GPS can help you in your life, especially if you are a parent, is by getting GPS For Children. GPS can be used to keep track of your child by placing the GPS transmitter into such things as cell phones, watches, clothing and shoes. Imagine how quickly you could find your lost kid if you employed GPS For Kids as a daily ritual. As soon as you notice your child “missing” you could use the GPS tracker to find their location quickly saving time in getting your loved one back. With 80,000 children going missing each year, the minutes saved could mean the difference between life and death
