Why Bali Is One of the Greatest Beach Destinations
Posted on January 19th, 2010 No commentsBali’s beautiful beaches bring visitors from far and wide to stay on Bali’s shores. Along with the beaches, its friendly people and great accommodations make Bali one of the best exotic vacations.
What makes Bali such a great beach destination is of course the Indian Ocean, the pristine water and white sand. But what are almost just as important as the scenery are the hotel accommodations. Bali has fantastic hotels to choose from for just about any budget. As an alternative to staying at a typical hotel, you can also stay at a private villa.
Bali has gorgeous villas with 2 to 7 bedrooms, spacious living areas, an outside area with a possible pool, and they also come with a cook, a maid and houseboys to take care of anything you need. You can even get your villa complete with a car and driver to take you wherever you want to go during your visit.
Villas end up being cheaper than a good hotel, and you end up with a lot more for your money. You can stay in a villa in virtually every part of the island whether you want to be right on the water, or in a rural area. Another great advantage to staying in a villa is that you will get to experience Bali more like an actual resident instead of like a tourist.
So whether you’ve decided to stay in one of Bali’s many reputable hotels, or if you’ve decided to rent a private villa for your stay, you will now be able to enjoy the many great perks of vacationing in Bali. Make sure to take in the beautiful sunsets on Kuta beach, and possibly catch a one of a kind sunrise from the top of Mount Batur. Vacations in Bali are both relaxing and fun-filled as there is a never ending list of things you can do.

Holiday villas in Spain are going cheap
Posted on October 5th, 2009 No commentsIf you have some money that you are looking to invest in property then you could do a lot worse than visiting the beautiful country of Spain and looking for property there. Holiday villas in Spain are some of the cheapest holiday villas in Europe. The climate of Spain is absolutely wonderful especially in the more tourist areas of the south east and south coasts. You can nearly be guaranteed year-round sunshine, with very warm summers and exceptionally mild winters. It will be very easy to rent accommodation in Spain because it is a very popular destination for people in Western Europe. Even with the sharp downturn in the economy lately, there seems to be no letup in people who want to go on holidays and who want to visit that beautiful country.

Languedoc Wine Season
Posted on September 9th, 2009 No commentsIt’s September here now in the South of France and where I live, in the Languedoc, the winemakers are starting to harvest their crop. There are very few places in this part of France where you don’t see vineyards, they are everywhere. The Languedoc has always been the main wine producing area of France in terms of the amount of wine produced. There are certainly more famous areas when it comes to quality like Bordeaux or Champagne. Of course if you live here grape harvesting season can be a bit frustrating if you want to get anywhere. The tractors that transport the grapes from the fields to the winery are out in force and traffic is often brought to a crawl which can be hell on the small country roads.

Asian Food
Posted on August 15th, 2009 No commentsFor those people recently bitten with the travel bug and planning a trip to the Orient – be it China, Japan, Korea, Laos or anywhere in between – I can offer you just one piece of sage like advice: do not be afraid to try the food! While so many Asia travel tips focus on what sites to see or what countries to avoid, very few focus on the food. For most Americans or Canadians and even Brits, Chinese and Asian food is a perverted local invention with the dished being served in restaurants from London to New York to Toronto being, at best, bastardized versions of the actual dished served in Asia. In fact, if you do make it to Asia and find yourself in one of China or Japan’s larger cities, you might want to avoid restaurants all together in favor of simple food carts and street vendors. While your first instinct might be to avoid food sold on an Asian street, the reality is it’s just as safe as hot dog in Time Square…only much tastier.

Hotel Steals Sand?
Posted on August 7th, 2009 No commentsYou may have read recently about the hotel in Cancun that was caught “stealing” sand from other hotels in the area. While this was kind of an amusing story for those of us who read it, it highlights the struggle that resorts are going through on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Back in 2005 when Hurricane Mitch dealt a direct blow to Cancun, much of the beach sand was washed away by the tidal surge and never came back. Since then the Mexican government has been doing all it can to make sure there is plenty of sand in the area so that there will not be an interruption of their Cancun vacations revenue. Most of the time visitors will not even notice the lack of sand, but especially after a stronger storm goes through the beaches may seem more “clay like” than full of sand.
