Ladies Golf Clubs Enter 21st Century
Posted on February 22nd, 2010 No commentsWhen purchasing ladies golf clubs, there are a number of things to take into consideration. Many pro shops that sell golf equipment can help in fitting a player with an appropriate club. Ladies golf clubs are different than men’s in that they are generally shorter and the shafts are a little more flexible. Women’s clubs are often times lighter as well to allow for better speed.
Despite the minor differences, ladies golf clubs can be purchased in sets or individually, depending upon the needs of the customer. There are a variety of brands to choose from. Callaway and Lady Fairway are popular among professional and amateur players alike. Some, like Lady Fairway, that cater specifically to women tend to appeal to the aesthetic aspect by offering a variety of colors like pink, purple, and green to both the clubs and the bag.
For first time buyers, it is wise to visit an actual store and speak with a salesperson who has experience with golf club selection. This is especially important for those that are looking for petite ladies golf clubs. Many beginners are encouraged to practice with a full set of clubs to help develop their swing as well as their technique. It is recommended to try the different types of golf clubs in order to get a feel for what each one is capable of.
Serious golfers will want quality clubs that will last awhile, so taking the time to find the right product is worth the effort. Once the correct fit is found, online shopping will become an easier process. It is important to do some research into the type and brand of club needed. Spend some time thinking about what is important in a good golf club and be on the look out for products that match the need. Pay attention to customer reviews in regards to condition, durability, and handling. Research the company to make sure it is a reputable one as well. While expensive sets may seem worth the investment, used clubs can work just as well if the customer knows what to look for.

Gambling Using Free Horse Racing Systems
Posted on February 22nd, 2010 No commentsBetting on horse races has been a favorite pastime for many people over the years. Years ago people who wanted to bet on these races had to go to the horse tracks, the day of the race, to place their bets. Today there are many different options for betting on different horse races.
The option of going to the track and watching the actual race live is still a popular form of betting on horse races. Another popular form of this type of betting is by going through different websites that offer horse race betting. Some of these websites charge a fee in order for your to bet on the races. However, there are many websites that offer free horse racing systems.
These free horse racing systems allow you to bet on several horse races without having to pay a fee each time you place a bet. Many of these websites also offer tips on how to optimize your winnings from these free horse racing systems. These tips will help you optimize your winnings and decrease the amount of money that you lose.
The free systems located on the websites have many things to offer. They explain why you should never bet all your money on one race, even if the horse you pick has a higher chance of winning. These systems also warn you that many times a horse’s odds have been falsely increased due to bookies placing false bets on one particular horse. These practices are often done to get the general public to place their bets on one specific horse. Then the bookies, or professional gamblers, choose the other horses that are less likely to win according to the website’s statistics.
When checking out free horse racing systems be sure to read all the website’s information fully. This will help you decide if the particular system is what you are looking for. You should also remember that, even if they guarantee you win, gambling also has a high risk factor. Anyone who is interested in gambling on horse races should always do so with caution, even if you are only employing a win place horse racing system.

Weight Training To Increase Vertical Jumps
Posted on February 15th, 2010 No commentsThose who want to increase their vertical leap should know by now that in order to increase power needed for the leap, one also needs to increase the ability of the body to harness his strength and speed when needed. What a lot of people do not know is that all people have the potential to exert the force needed do carry a maximum load. What load really means in relation to vertical leap is the weight training involved for jumping higher.
Ideally, the mind and body both work together to condition the body to exert a certain amount of force. But as it turns out, not a lot of people can fully realize their capacity to use their muscles. Ordinary folks use 50% of their strength while most trained performers or athletes use 60% to 80% of theirs.
There is a regulating tendon that disallows us to use 100% of our strength because if done so, this might lead to serious injury in the muscles. Imagine one’s fibers ripping off because of exertion. With proper training though, this regulating muscle can allow a stronger amount of force to be raised than the ordinary folks who usually don’t use theirs. This means that one has the ability to develop more than enough strength for serious athletics or improved skills.
Most vertical jumping workouts include weight training as the backbone of their program. Given the formula Power=Force x Speed, weight training is needed in order to increase the amount of force for jumping. But weight training doesn’t only affect force but speed as well. Most athletes have the misconception that when you enroll in a weight training program, there is a tendency to slow down, but this really just depends on the type of training involved and the proper and improper ways of using the workouts in such training.
Included in techniques to jump higher is improving rate of force development, this means the ability to use the strength gotten from weight training in the manner and fashion that you want at a certain amount of time. In weight training, there are different lifts that are specifically made just to attain that such as weighted jump squats, vertical jumps, bench presses, barbell lunges, medicine ball overhead press, abdominal crunches, step jumps and medicine ball sit ups.
These exercises develop and recruit most of the muscles needed for a strong vertical jump but it is important to focus on the quality of each exercise, each rep involved in it, rather than the overall quantity of the exercises. Rest at the right time with the proper lapsed time recommended after every exercise so the quality of the workout won’t suffer.

Looking For An All-Mountain Snowboard
Posted on January 28th, 2010 No commentsWhen you’re heading out to buy a new snowboard and you haven’t had a lot of snowboarding experience you should understand that it will all come down to the type of snowboarding that you plan on doing that will decide which one you buy. Early on in your progression you will be after a board that you can take anywhere on the mountain, that will allow you to perform the occasional trick and will slide smoothly through the snow.
By and large the Palmer Snowboard range is generally known as a stiff flex range of boards that are best suited to all-mountain boarding. They require a certain level of ability in the riders to be able to use the torsional flex properly. However this is not essential across the entire range of boards and if you are looking for a Palmer snowboard that can be adapted for the entire mountain including the freestyle park you might want to take a look at the Palmer Pulse snowboard.
The Palmer Pulse is a board that can be enjoyed all over the mountain on any terrain. Although it is probably best classed as an all-mountain board it can also be enjoyed as a freestyle board. It has a solid side cut, poppy flex and will allow easy torsion flex.
There are legions of fans that prefer these snowboards and consider the fact that they can go Palmer snowboarding – that is, snowboarding on a Palmer snowboard – a privilege that too few people have discovered. When a board delivers such a solid and reliable ride down the mountain it increases the pleasure immeasurably and is certainly one of the reasons that bring you back to the slopes season after season.
There are many different brands of snowboards available for all types of terrain, styles and standards, choosing the right one can sometimes be a lottery. Knowing a little about what flex can mean plus how the dimensions of a board will affect the performance will give you a head start in the process.

Testing Your Martial Arts Effectiveness
Posted on January 26th, 2010 No commentsThere are hundreds of martial arts, each developed to try and improve what went before it. Most countries around the world have a local fighting system that can be considered as a martial art, whether it is the western boxing and wrestling found in the USA and Europe, or the countless ancient kung fu styles of China. There are the lesser known styles such as krav maga, used by the Israeli military, and the often baffling Brazilian art of capoeira. The majority of these martial arts styles, from wherever they originate, boast their superiority over all others. The question is, especially if you are studying a martial art yourself: Is my art really any good? Is is effective for self-defence?
The question is very difficult to answer since the martial arts practised today cannot be used in the manner for which they were originally devised. Several Chinese fighting systems – such as xingyiquan (shape intention boxing) and ying jow pai (eagle claw system) – were classed as battlefield styles, invented during feudal times, and with strikes designed to maim and kill enemy forces. Of course, today we cannot go around killing people to test the effectiveness of our martial art, and so a great deal of emphasis is placed on perfecting the techniques, doing “shadow boxing”. These shadow boxing routines are called “forms” in kung fu, or “kata” in Japanese arts such as karate.
In recent times, new sport-style martial arts have emerged, such as MMA (mixed martial arts) and shoot fighting, which are essentially full-contact sparring styles, with the vicious techniques removed. Unlike more regimented combat sports – for example, boxing – MMA allows a more all-inclusive range of techniques, from punching, kicking and knee-strikes, to throws and trips. The groundwork made famous by Brazilian jujitsu is also allowed, along with chokes, joint-locks and submission holds. The only attire allowed for MMA bouts is a pair of shorts (and a sports bra for women) and non-padded, fingerless MMA gloves.
So although you won’t get the self-defense realism of somebody trying to gouge your eyes, and other dirty tricks, you will get a thorough investigation of how effective your martial art actually is by doing some training with mixed martial arts fighters.

Why Cycling Shirts Are A Wise Idea
Posted on January 22nd, 2010 No commentsAll competitive road racing cyclists wear cycling shirts when out on the roads. For them, these jerseys are part of their uniform, and indicate to spectators – whether at the roadside, or on television if it is a big race – which team they are riding for. They also show a healthy selection of sponsors’ advertisements, which is important if the team gets a lot of financial support to keep on going. And last but by no means least, a cycling shirt in one of the famous and prestigious competitions, such as the Tour de France, is a badge of honor, especially if it is the coveted yellow jersey, or the polka dot “King of the Mountains” jersey.
If you only use your bike to ride to work and back, and maybe go for fun rides at the weekend, you might not think it is very useful to wear a cycle shirt. Most people think such tops are skin tight, and are self-conscious because, perhaps, they are not the most flattering of shapes for skin tight lycra. The good news is that not all cycling jerseys are like this. Ironically, you will be able to find a decent, not so “figure-hugging” style fairly cheaply, because if they are slightly baggy, they will create drag and slow you down. For the ride through rush hour traffic, that’s not a problem; you are not trying to break any land speed records after all!
However, if you are in rush hour traffic during the winter, and it is after sunset, you will want something that is very eye-catching. Many cycle shirts come in a variety of garish and sometimes even light-reflecting colors, and these are a great road safety aid. If the guy in the truck cannot see you, you are at risk. So wearing a cycling jersey in bright yellow, or a terrifying mixture of non-coodinated bright colors, is a very wise idea, and one that may save your life one day.

Inexpensive Golf Cart Accessories
Posted on January 19th, 2010 No commentsIf you are the proud owner of a new golf cart, odds are that you probably don’t have a lot of extra money left to splurge on a variety of expensive golf cart accessories. Fortunately, there is a whole litany of accessories available that can spruce up your golf cart without draining your wallet. To find out what they are, keep on reading.
The first accessory is a portable, clip on fan. These inexpensive fans can be used to keep you and your passengers cooler while driving in the golf cart. If you do buy one of these fans, you need to make sure that its power source is compatible with the golf cart’s power source.
On the other hand, if you play golf in a cooler climate, you may want to invest in a portable heater unit. These units can definitely make a big difference in a golfer’s quality of life on a cold morning.
Going hand and hand with a portable heater, another good golf cart accessory is a golf cart cover. These items not only keep the heat in, but they keep the rain and misaimed golf balls out. Hence, this accessory is good for protecting both the golf cart and the golfer.
Next, you may want to invest in our favorite golf cart accessory: the golf cart cooler. These nifty containers can usually keep between six and twelve canned beverages cool. Additionally, these coolers often come with mounting brackets, which makes them a permanent golf cart fixture. By using a golf cart cooler, you can bring your own beverages and save a lot of money by not using the soda machines located on the golf course.
As you can see, if you don’t have a lot of money, you can still accessorize your golf cart. If you would like more information on golf cart accessories, stop by the Golf Cart Tires Guide.

Batting Cage Equipment For An Efficient Practice
Posted on January 18th, 2010 No commentsBecoming a better hitter takes time and a lot of practice. Professional baseball players make it look easy especially the very good hitters like Albert Pujols or Derek Jeter. What you don’t see are the countless hours that they spend in the batting cages working on their craft.
However, one of the worst things that you could do is just step into the cage with no plan of how to become a better hitter. To take it a step further, there are some tools that you’ll need that will really take your practice time to another level.
Not all batting cage equipment is created equal. There really are only a couple of items that you’ll need to work on all areas of the swing while at the same time working efficiently and effectively.
First, is the tried and true batting tee. This age old piece of equipment is not just for tee ballers but for seasoned professionals as well. It is a good tool for getting warmed up and loose while working on the basics of the swing.
Second, you’ll need what is called an l-screen. Essential for safety, it allows you to get fairly close to the hitter while protecting yourself from line drives. It is effective for working on soft toss as well as throwing traditional batting practice.
Lastly, be sure to purchase a donut. Typically, a donut is used for warming up while in the on deck circle during a game. However, it is an effective training tool as well. Place the donut on the bat while working on a soft toss drill. This will build your forearm muscles and while increasing strength as well as working on driving the bat through the zone with the extra weight.
The next time you step into a batting cage with your son or daughter, try working in these pieces of equipment to make the most of your practice time. You can buy batting cage equipment online.

The Secret of Non-Conforming Golf Equipment
Posted on January 18th, 2010 No commentsYou might not have heard of Non-Conforming Golf Equipment, but if you are a serious golfer, with no professional aspirations, then you might really enjoy the benefits that Non-Conforming Golf Equipment, can bring to your game. The Equipment consists of clubs, and balls that were designed in non-traditional ways. For example, when a manufacturer designs a club, it is expected to meet a certain list of specifications for professional use. The USGA expects all golf equipment to be designed to meet its specifications.
Yet some manufacturers design clubs, and balls however they want to design them. People still want to buy them for many reasons, so for the sake of categorization, these items are called Non-Conforming Golf Equipment. The USGA has made a list of Conforming Golf Equipment, and any club or ball that meets these standards is included on this list.
The reasons for the creation of Non-Conforming Equipment are many-fold. Some of the equipment was designed initially as a joke or novelty. But many golfers found that some Non-Conforming Equipment gave them extra advantages over their fellow players. Some common benefits of this equipment include what is called a ‘trampoline effect.’ This is when the facial part of the golf club is created to be more springy, and convex. This causes the ratio of the club’s head, to the speed of the ball to be too wide.
Another common reason for the purchase of Non-Conforming Golf Products is that some of the balls are smaller than regular golf balls. This helps the balls to travel much farther on each swing.
The list of Conforming Golf Equipment is included in Appendix 2, section 4c of “The Rules of Golf.” The introduction of this list caused much controversy in around 2005. While it is true that non-conforming equipment has been rejected by the USGA, and cannot be used in any world competition, there are still some benefits to using it. If you are just trying to beat out your friends at golf, or your coworkers, you might want to learn the benefits of using a ball that can go farther, or a driver that can work better.
So if your game is lacking in one area or another, then you should think about purchasing equipment that can compensate for you. This is one of the best ways to get a quick fix. If you have a driver with a club head that does not fit inside of a 5″ x 5″ box, this could assist you when it comes to forgiveness. It can also assist you with forgiveness if the driver has a moment of inertia number that is greater than 5,900, has a trampoline-type effect on the facial area of the club, or has a volume of more than 460 cubic meters.

Buying A Quality Ice Hockey Helmet
Posted on January 9th, 2010 No commentsFor those of you who are interested in getting started playing hockey, or for those of you who are just looking for an upgrade on the single most important piece of ice hockey equipment in a hockey players equipment bag, buying the right ice hockey helmet is incredibly important for your safety, whether you are playing full contact check hockey or no check recreational hockey. Do not overlook the importance of buying a hockey helmet with sufficient padding which will protect you from mild to severe concussions.
Many hockey players think that they can easily stay out of harms way and that they do not need to worry about smacking their head on the ice. However, the truth of the matter is that ice hockey is a dangerous game and injuries are frequent from beginner leagues to the most advanced and professional hockey leagues. You can never know what could happen and using an old ice hockey helmet that is lacking enough padding to sufficiently protect your skull and brain is a huge mistake.
Doing a little big of research online you can find that concussions are the most common ice hockey injury and the human can only take so many concussions or head injuries before permanent brain damage can be caused. It is definitely not worth risking the long term effects of a serious head injury just to save a few dollars on a cheaper and less protective hockey helmet. If there is one thing you should spend extra money in to get the highest quality product, it would have to be the best hockey helmet available of any of the top ice hockey equipment brands. Bauer, CCM and RBK all make high quality helmets that should last several years while protecting your head as much as is possible. If you visit your local hockey pro shop, you should be able to ask any of the qualified employees there what they would suggest for the best amount of head protection in a hockey helmet and they should be able to point you in the right direction to the quality ice hockey helmets.

Choosing The Right Golf Ball
Posted on January 6th, 2010 No commentsWhen it comes to golf you need to have the right tools for the job. Not only are we talking drivers, irons, putters but golf balls as well. Golf balls are just as important as the rest of the gear in your golf bag. Many type of golf balls are available on the market today depending on what your needs and level of play is. You can even get custom golf balls to suit your needs. Let’s look at a couple of things you want to look for when buying a golf ball.
First let’s talk golf ball spin. Balls with three piece design and a central liquid core are best for spin. These types of golf ball provide workability vs. distance. When hitting balata balls you will find that they have more spin and thus make it easier to fade or draw the ball. When playing the green the balata ball will stick the green vs. roll off if hit accordingly. The only downside to the soft balata golf ball is that they do not travel as far as a hard ball.
Next let’s move on to distance golf balls. The cover is usually hard and made of a material called surlyn while the interior is a solid core. The hard cover combined with the solid interior core is what gives these type of golf balls the distance, carry and also are very durable. Of course the downside to the distance golf ball is that they do not offer much feel or control and are much harder to stop on the greens. For the average typical golfer these are the golf balls of choice since most don’t have the ability to spin like the pros but need the extra boost when it comes to the distance.
Some basic tips on choosing golf balls is that if you’re starting out use a two-piece balls that use a harder more durable cover so you won’t ruin the ball after a few games from mis hits. As you build in your skill you can move to a softer ball that will allow you to have more control over the ball.

Jumping Higher Through Visualization
Posted on January 4th, 2010 No commentsAlthough it may come as a surprise to most, increasing jumping ability does not only mean that you should push yourself to practice hard physically. It may be true that if you want to know how to jump higher in basketball, you need to work out and tone your entire body. This requires you to undergo trainings and exercises to push you to your limits. However, what is a physical training without mental stimulation? Yes, that is true. Seeing yourself jump higher and imagining your goal will help you achieve the jump that you are practicing for.
Many people say that for you to be able to achieve your goals, you must first think of yourself achieving that goal. This means that if you want something, visualize it and motivate yourself by seeing yourself doing it already. In jumping higher, think of exact number such as the height of which you want to increase your vertical jump and the amount of time you are looking at before achieving this. You could also visualize yourself jumping higher and dunking a ball after the other and rebounding or blocking as much. This will push you to move forward and exert more effort. Also, visualizing your goals makes you pursue it even further.
A lot of athletes and aspiring ones out there focus just on the physical aspects of things. They seem to forget that the mind gives a lot of impact in making your dreams happen. Imagine an Olympic gold medalist. All his life, that person might have had the gold medal in mind and he visualizes himself as being awarded that medal in the future. Because of this dream and because he deems it to be something real and plausible, he gives all of his effort in making sure that his dreams become reality. In fact, top athletes will often times see the outcome of their action before performing the action whether if the sport is golf, gymnastics, or even basketball. This is the same in any goal, whether it be jumping higher or snagging the MVP.
There are obvious many exercises to jump higher as well as workout routines that you can do but unless you see it your mind the result of all that training can do for you, you won’t reach your true potential. Try this visualization exercise. Get a piece of chalk and jump as high as you can against a wall and mark the height of your jump. Now, stand back and take a good look at the height of the mark you just made. From here, close your eyes and visualize jumping up and making a mark that is an entire foot higher than the mark you just made. Do this over and over, at least a dozen times. Then, open your eyes and have it fixed on a spot a foot above the mark you made; this will be your new goal. Then go ahead and jump and make another mark. Most people will find that they are able to jump higher after doing this simple exercise. This if the power of visualization when it comes to jumping higher.

Keeping Your Goalie Gloves Clean
Posted on January 3rd, 2010 No commentsIf you’re a soccer goalie, you need to protect your goal at all costs. Your front line of defense in that effort are your soccer goalie gloves. Other than perhaps your soccer cleats, your goalie gloves are ‘the’ bit of equipment you don’t want to be without. Despite this obvious high importance, it’s amazing how many keeper really don’t think about, much less do anything about, keeping their gloves in good shape. Is it because they don’t know that they can wash their gloves? Or is it because they don’t know HOW to wash their gloves? I don’t know the answer, but after reading this article, you will no longer be able to use either of those excuses! Don’t worry though, it’s really not a difficult or dirty job.
The first thing many people wonder is, “what kind of soap or cleaner should I use to wash my soccer gloves?” The answer is very simple… NONE! That’s right, don’t use any special cleaner, and certainly don’t use any soap. Think about it… what happens in the comedies when someone steps on a bar of soap? That’s right, they SLIP! Do you want to be putting something that slips onto your keeper gloves? I didn’t think so.
So what do you do? All you need to do is to run warm water on and in your gloves as you rub them together to get all that dirt, mud and blood off of them (blood?!?! Why in the world do you have blood on your gloves you beast!) One good way of getting into the habit of keeping your gloves clean is to just take them into the shower with you after you train. Before you start with any soap, just run the water over and in your gloves. Not only will this prolong their life, but it’ll keep you from having hands that constantly smell like a donkey’s rear. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, ask someone who is NOT a goalkeeper if your hands stink after the next time you play. Cleaning your goalie gloves will help keep your mind on the ball as well as keep you from picking up any bacteria that can cause you to become sick and keep you out of the game. Since you will be using your hands to pick things up or wiping sweat off of your face, you will definitely want to have clean gloves.

The Different Types Of Sleighs
Posted on September 19th, 2009 No commentsRead about different types of sleighs that you can use to enjoy your time in the snow with sleds. The most standard one is called a simple sled. It is mostly made from plastic and is level and smooth to lead. Numerous of them come with steering wheels and brakens. Another typeof sled, and perhaps the most realized is the steel sled. This kind is built of wood and metal and has been appreciated for a very extended time.
The next type is named a snow saucer. With this kind of sled you can spin and turn. Since it doesn’t let you really steer you will want to be super careful. With snow tubes you are pretty close to snow saucers. They are circular as well and filled with air.

Martial Arts Weapons Training Teaches Self Confidence
Posted on September 4th, 2009 No commentsIf your child is shy and anti-social most of the time it is probably because they have a self confidence issue. People who are not confident in themselves have a tendency to try and steer clear of others and will do poorly in school and not learn proper social behaviors. If you want to make sure your child develops a healthy self confidence you might consider putting them in a martial arts weapons training class.
The martial arts are a great way to boost confidence levels. There is nothing more confidence building than winning a fight or knowing you could win a fight if the need arose. Weapons training allows your child to emmulate the confident super heroes and action heroes they see every day on television and it will all take place in a fun and safe environment. There is no better way to build a child’s confidence and make sure they develop social skills than to put a weapon in their hands and teach them to use it properly.

Beer, Stompin’ Tom’s Hockey Song, and Hockey Jerseys
Posted on August 3rd, 2009 No commentsAh yes, Stompin’ Tom and his Hockey Song is the anthem of those pure bred hockey fans everywhere in North America. There is absolutely no better combination than that song, a nice fresh pint a beer, fans wearing their favorite hockey jerseys, and the ongoing hockey game.
Stadiums have been trying to figure out the best ways to motivate their fans into becoming frothing hockey mobs ever since the sport became National and started drawing large crowds. They’ve tried everything from boozing them up, launching T-shirts from the ice with bazookas, to having cheer leaders (Hockey with cheerleaders?!) over in the corner. But all they really need to do to get the crowd worked up is play that Stompin’ Tom’s classic Hockey song. Just like baseball fans with Peanuts and Cracker Jacks, Stompin’ Tom created a song that will last as long as the sport thrives. Hockey fans unite over the classic hockey song.

Invest In Your Golf Game
Posted on August 2nd, 2009 No commentsFor those who take their love for golf seriously, home putting greens is the best investment to make. Backyard putting greens can either be natural or synthetic depends on one’s preference and budget. In whatever case, there are various things to consider before deciding to have your backyard playground. One thing to consider is a complementing great landscape to ensure that the home golf green system looks as natural as possible. Relevant to this, one should consider other factors such as complementary specialty gardens, placing bunkers to make the putting more challenging, water hazards, undulations, contours, false fronts and the likes.
Compared to years ago, the beauty of today’s artificial grass products is that they are innovative, functional and natural-looking. The use of special yarns and backing give off the look and feel of real grass.

Jump Higher Fast
Posted on August 1st, 2009 No commentsDo you want to learn how to jump higher fast? Well the best way to learn anything is by doing it. Sitting around hoping and wishing will never give you the results you want. Jumping is all about having fast twitch muscle fibers in you legs. But there are other muscles that are required for jumping besides your legs. You need to have a good strong arm swing and a strong core. A lot of people say that having a strong stomach is important for jumping and it is, but having a strong lower back is even more important. You need to do low back exercises so that you can really get that power when taking off from the ground. Everything must travel through your lower back so make sure it isn’t preventing you from jumping higher.
