Gucci Mane Is A Rhyming Phenomenon
Posted on February 24th, 2010 No commentsOne of the most incredible artists from the south that makes hip hop music is Gucci Mane. He is able to rhyme better than most other artists and also has a great singing voice. Even though some people hear him when he rhymes with his gold teeth intact, most people that have heard him since getting them removed have been very impressed with his perceived raw talent. In interviews, Gucci has said that he does not consider himself to be the best rapper, but he is trying to be the best that he can possibly be. He really enjoys working hard and improving his microphone skills every single time that he goes into the booth.
These days, he is viewed as a musical savior in southern states like Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Louisiana. The reason that the people love him so much down south is because he is from the area and also raps about everyday happenings in the south. People from the area are able to relate with him very well and love going to support his shows. Every performance that he does is sold completely out because he usually ends up bringing his entire crew of artists that are signed to his personal label called “So Icy.”
In the northern states like Illinois and New York, Gucci does not get quite as much support. In fact, there are even a lot more people that hate on him because they think that he does not pronounce his words clearly in his songs. However, it is important to understand that everyone has a different voice and that the dialect used down south is much different from that used in the north. Does this mean that every person that likes rap up north is going to dislike Gucci Mane music? Absolutely not, there are plenty of people that understand how good he is at rhyming that are from the north. Musical taste is subjective, there are no need to start making generalizations or geographic stereotypes.

Choosing the Right Guitar Cable
Posted on February 19th, 2010 No commentsLots of research has been done to try and work out what the best guitar cable that you as a guitarist can use. The issue with many of these studies is that they look more at the technology, and less at the styles of music that is played through these cables. When you are looking for the best cable for you, you really want to make sure that you find what works best for your playing style and budget. Cables vary quite a bit in price, so you need to work out what your ceiling cost is. While the more expensive cables aren’t necessarily better, it is worth knowing how much you can spend.
It is also most likely that you will actually need more than one cable. What this means is that you will probably have cables linking together your effects pedals, or different loops that you have. There is no point in getting a really good cable for just one part of this as the overall sound will be determine by the entire setup. In this way, your rig is only as good as it’s weakest cable. Therefore you are going to be looking at paying out for several cables to completely upgrade your system. To work out the quality of the cable you are going to be looking at the core material and the insulation that is used. Copper and silver cores are regarded as the best, as they are very good conductors of sound and offer a cleaner tone.
There are lots of different materials that are used to make the insulation layer. Some of the materials used were developed for the space program, but you just need something that is good enough for your requirements. Try out a few cables that fall in to your budget, and work out what work best for you. if you are someone who always walks around in circles when you are playing you are going to need a cable that doesn’t become too tangled for example. Try out the cables that you other musician friends use and see what they would recommend. Also, just like you can try out guitars, you can also test out cables at your local music shop. Have a good with a few different types using a rig setup the same as you use. Take your time, because it can make all the difference to how your playing sounds.

Searching For The Best Used Musical Instruments For Sale
Posted on February 17th, 2010 No commentsWhen you are a struggling musician who needs to not only have the money to live but also the money to keep him or herself equipped with the highest quality musical instruments that can be afforded, the option for new instruments can be very expensive. All musicians know that great instruments can be found in some of the used markets. And finding that used jem or red electric guitars at a crazy deal can be a daunting but rewarding experience.
Back when I first started playing guitar, there was not as many options as their are today to find some good used musical instruments. First off, there was no internet at that time. That means no eBay, no online classifieds sites, no store websites or nothing of that nature. In order to find deals you pretty much had to scour newspaper ads and those small weekly classifieds digests that some towns publish.
Did I mention towns? Well, we were mostly tied to our general area or at least within a decent driving distance to the musical instrument deal that you may have found in the newspaper. And then the other problem was what if you drove a few hours only to find that the guitar, keyboard or drums that you read about in the classifieds was not exactly what you thought or it turned out to be in horrible condition and unplayable.
These days, with the internet, there are an abundance of used musical instruments available to anyone wanting to look. This includes detailed pictures of the instruments for sale and sometimes even demo sound clips and video if the seller gets ambitious. You can certainly find everything from a kids electric guitar all the way to full blown guitar amp stacks and everything in between.
The number of guitars, amps, drums, keyboards and other musical supplies on eBay alone is more than enough to equip an entire army of musicians. Then there are all the online shops. There are also many music related classified websites that allow anyone to place their Fender or Gibson online for the world to see and possibly buy.
Things have surely come a long way since I started playing guitar and looking into buying used musical instruments. I wish that I would have had all these options when I first started but I am sure greatful to have them now.

Choosing Guitar Patch Cables
Posted on January 5th, 2010 No commentsPicking out guitar patch cables may seem like it’s not a big deal, but you have to think about how every time your guitar’s signal is processed and moves from one place to another (pedal to amp, head to rack) it is open to loss and interference. Your guitar cables are a lot like a team that is only as strong as its weakest link! In this post I’ll show you what to look for when shopping for patch and guitar pedal cables, as well as where to find the best deals on them.
Spending money on a nice cable from your guitar to your amp is a waste of money if your patch and pedal cables suck. As soon as your signal is processed by the pedal and passed through the weak cables interference will attack and all of the good that you did is out the window. So in order to fix this you need patch and pedal cables that are the same caliber as your main guitar cable. That might mean that you buy a bit lower quality guitar cable so that your pedal cables can be the same. Obviously, there are better things to blow your budget on when it comes to guitar equipment, but this is fundamental and has to be addressed.
Finding good deals on quality patch cables isn’t too tough either. This is because they can usually be bought in bulk. You’ll need lots of them as your rig grows, so buying them in bulk makes a lot of sense. They usually come in packs of eight or ten, which is the perfect amount for medium sized rigs with pedals and will leave a few extra for when you grow in to a rack unit.
Getting your guitar cables right is an essential step in developing your tone, and one that will continually improve as your playing does. Try stuff out and experiment to really nail down your tonal voice.

Guitar Articles
Posted on August 15th, 2009 No commentsThey are now reporting that, with the economic downtown and world financial crisis heading in the direction it has been heading and with no end in sight that the once venerable American institution – the newspaper – may soon be nearing its demise. After years of virtually giving away their product for free via the web, newspaper companies are finding it more and more difficult to convince people that they need to buy the paper in order to consume the day’s news as modern devices such as iPhones, iPods, and laptops make it easier and easier to avoid this daily purchase. In fact, with so many people finding their favorite guitar articles online instead of in the entertainment section or their political fix on the Huffington Post and not on the local paper’s editorial section, it probably is only a matter of time before the newspaper in America is dead. Until that fateful day arrives I will continue to buy my newspaper every morning in order to do my part to support this once great industry.
