  • Scaffold Tower Hire

Posted on January 31st, 2010 No comments

Scaffold towers have many different uses and are essential pieces of equipment for building contractors of all sizes. They are also widely used by many homeowners who like to complete DIY work themselves. These towers are a great substitute for ladders in many situations. They offer many of the same benefits as a ladder but are far safer to use. Much of the time they are also more practical with a large, sturdy platform which is capable of supporting multiple workers and their equipment. Scaffold towers can be expensive to purchase, especially for small building firms and DIY homeowners. If the tower is not expected to be used more than a few times then it may prove more economical to hire one for a short period, rather than purchasing one for yourself.

There are many different companies that now offer scaffold tower hire, a large number of them also sell the towers and have realised the demand for these structures for the completion of small, one off jobs. A tower can be leased for a very reasonable sum, this will be a lot less than you can expect to pay if you were to buy a cheap scaffold tower from new. Searching on the internet or looking through construction related magazines is a great way to find the details of various companies who offer these towers for hire. Be sure to compare the prices and terms of each individual company, this will help you to secure the best deal. Just talking to employees will also help you to judge how well the company treats customers, as well as how knowledgeable they are about the products they are offering you. When hiring a tower, make sure that you are given an opportunity to inspect it before making any agreement with the company. You want to check for any signs of excessive wear or damage, make sure than anything you are unhappy with is replaced or repaired before you begin using a tower.

  • Emergency Backpack

How To Prepare a Basic Emergency Backpack

In the event of a disaster, you may need to know how to survive on your own. This means you’ll need to have a sufficient supply of your own food, water, and other items to make it for at least three days. In the immediate aftermath of a disaster, local officials and relief workers will arrive on the scene, but they can’t get to everyone immediately. It could take hours — or days — to get help.

Utilities such as electricity, gas, water, sewage treatment, and phone service may be cut off for days, weeks, or longer. It’s also possible that you would need to evacuate your area immediately and take only essential supplies with you. If that happens, you won’t have any time to shop or look for items you need.

Every American should be prepared for an emergency, with enough basic supplies packed to last for three days. Here is a list of some of the necessary supplies that should be included in an emergency backpack. Of course, you should review this list keeping in mind your particular geographical location and the special needs of your family, so that you can create a kit that will meet your needs. It’s also wise to pack at least two emergency backpacks: one fully stocked kit for the home, and smaller kits for your workplace, your car, and other places where you spend a significant amount of time.

The 72-Hour Survival Backpack should be outfitted to fulfill the basic survival needs of your family for up to a week. The majority of families store their emergency supplies in the same location, a spot that is safe and yet accessible in the event you are evacuated.  You can store your supplies in a 32-gallon garbage can, a suitcase, a duffle bag, a footlocker, or any other sort of travel pack.

With its Ready Campaign, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security educates Americans on how to get ready for and respond to emergencies such as natural disasters or terrorist attacks. The Ready Campaign encourages people to do three important things: prepare an emergency supply kit, draft an emergency plan for the family, and be aware of and informed about the various kinds of emergencies that can occur and how best to respond to them.

  • Berry Fruit Juice Recipes and Benefits

Posted on January 30th, 2010 No comments

Berries are among the most nutritious of fruits. They are a great source of antioxidants like vitamin C and anthocyanins. One of the best ways to supply ourselves with an abundance of berry nutrition is through homemade berry fruit juice recipes. Freshly made berry juice recipes are always better for you than processed commercial juices. Commercial juices often go through filtering, heating and reconstituting processes that kill off a lot of the original nutrition.

    Strawberries
Beside vitamin C, strawberries are also a great source of folate. Folate helps in the repair of DNA cells damaged by free radicals. Free radicals are harmful oxygen molecules that are the by-product of natural chemical reaction in the body. Repeated damage of DNA cells can result in mutations that cause cancer. So a diminished intake of folate is associated with cancers of the breast, brain, lung, cervix, colon and rectum.

Strawberries also contain antioxidants called ellagitannins and quercetin. Both of these antioxidants have been shown to inhibit the development of cancer and have anti-inflammatory effects that can be helpful for asthmatics and sufferers of arthritis

    Blueberries
Several studies in Europe have shown that eating blueberries improves eye sight. Another study in  Japan found that eating blueberries eased eye fatigue. The potent antioxidant properties of the anthocyanins in bluebberries are believed to be the key ingredient  that generates these eye based health benefits.

    Raspberries
Raspberries are a great source of an antioxidant called ellagic acid. Ellagic acid has been found to have anti-cancer properties, especially for cancers of the skin, lung, liver, tongue and colon. Raspberries also contain quercetins, another powerful anti-cancer antioxidant. Quecetins protect against cancer of the skin, breast and colon.

    Blackberries
Blackberries are an exceptionally high source of vitamin C.  A regular intake of vitamin C from food sources has been shown to significantly reduce the risk of developing atherosclerosis and to lower blood pressure in humans.

Blackberries are also a no fat, low carb fruit, which makes them a great choice for low carb diets and calorie restricted diets.

    Making Berry Juice Recipes
Blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries are very easy to juice. They don’t require any prepping other than a good rinse. Strawberries will need one extra step of having the stem chopped off before juicing. One thing you will notice is that you need a good amount of berries to make your berry fruit juicer recipes . Depending on how much juice you like, you will need anything between 3-5 cup of berries.

Berry Fruit Juice Recipe #1 – Blueberry Blast
    4 cups of blueberries

    Juice and enjoy!

Berry Fruit Juicer Recipe #2 – Berry Blast
    1 – 1/2 cups of blueberries
    1 – 1/2 cups of blackberries
    1 cup of raspberries
    5 strawberries

Berry Fruit Juice Recipes #3 – Pure Strawberry
    15 – 20 strawberries

Berry Fruit Juice Recipes #4 – Kiwi and Blackberry
    2 cups of blackberries
    2 kiwis

    Peel kiwis before juicing.

  • Be Free of Your Driving Fears

Posted on January 30th, 2010 No comments

Breaking free of a fear of driving on freeways (or anywhere else for that matter) is not easy, but it is possible if you understand the forces that are at work behind your fear.

    The Fear Cycle:

    1) Recollection of a frightening memory or mental image. You don’t even need to have actually had something happen to you, perceived threats can be just as real as ones learned from experience.

    2) Physical Response. Your body will react to fear in a number of ways, a quickening of your heart rate, hyperventilating or even dizziness and fainting. You can try to reduce your physical symptoms concentrating on steady breathing, in through your nose out through your mouth.

    3) Fight or Flight Response. Instinctually you are wired with two choices when confronted with a perceived danger. You can fight (Rather hard to do while your driving) or you can flee. Fleeing might take the shape of pulling over, parking or even refusing to drive all together.

    Breaking the Cycle:

Breaking free of your fear takes a different internal process for everybody but there are a few solid approaches. Break your problem into manageable chunks, is the fear in question based on a memory if so write down your memory in detail and try to figure out why it happened. Most traumatic crashes can be avoided with simple safe driving practices, come up with a list of scenarios and take them with you while you attend a refresher course at the local DMV. Another approach is to learn some breathing and meditation techniques to carry with you into your day to day challenges. My personal favorite method of beating my fear is to simply face it head on in small doses until I am desensitized so to speak.

The question of how to get rid of fear of driving isn’t an easy one to answer; but as with all problems in life a little concentration on the problem and hard work can help.

  • Choosing the Best Blood Red Ruby Ring

Posted on January 30th, 2010 No comments

Choosing the best blood red ruby ring will involve a trip to Asia or to a fine jeweler who deals with pigeon blood ruby ring designs that come from Burma (Myanmar) or Vietnam. Some may come from Thailand or Cambodia, but the ones from Africa and Afghanistan are not the best.

Ruby Teatments and Enhancements to Watch For

You can have a blood red ruby ring without it being a natural stone since the treatments and enhancements can make inferior rubies that were not “born” pigeon blood color, appear much richer and darker red then they are. These rubies are in fact genuine, but they have been helped to have a better color. Almost all commercial pigeon blood ruby ring creations that you will find for sale and cost under several hundred dollars will have been treated. If they have not, the description of the gem in the ring will very CLEARLY state it is natural, untreated or not enhanced. If it doesn’t say that anywhere, then just assume it’s been filled with wax, resin or oil, perhaps enhanced with color, likely heated to a high temperature to bring out the color etc….

Why Should You Care About Heat Treatments?

Heating sapphires and rubies may make them brittle and prone to cracking or chipping with very slight bumping. A true untreated pigeon blood ruby ring will not have been in need of being waxed or oiled to fill cracks because it won’t have cracks except for the starlight patterns that make a ruby or sapphire a splendid thing to behold.

Where to Buy a Genuine Pigeon Blood Ruby Ring

You can buy genuine untreated blood red ruby ring designs that are totally custom built for you at the Natural Sapphire Company. You can do so easily online and they come certificates. They are not cheap but they are good quality and quite affordable if you only want a small gemstone. However, if you are buying an investment quality gemstone ring or piece of jewelry and want to be assured of its value, you will need an appraisal. If you are going to spend thousands of dollars, go to an expert. The one exception is that you may be in the market for an antique blood red ruby ring with seed pearls or with diamonds and these will be found online and will likely not be treated, especially if they are genuine antiques that are over 100 years old.

There are several places to find Burmese (Myanmar) ruby rings that are genuine pigeon blood rubies and old mine diamonds and that is Adin Antique Jewelry, the Antique Jewelry Mall, Ruby Lane and others. These may or may not have authentication, but if they are certified as to have been created before heat treatments were common, then your chances of having a very high quality ruby are greater.

  • When Homemade Chicken Curry Recipes Go Bad

Posted on January 29th, 2010 No comments

Sometimes, what you thought was an easy chicken curry recipe turns into a culinary nightmare. Thankfully if you are making a homemade curry and things begin to go wrong, there are some good hints and tips to help you avert disaster, and recover the situation. Of course, if you forget about your curry and wander off to do something else, only to return two hours later, then you’ll need some extra tips on how to clean kitchenware! So there are limits to these hints; be prepared to start the recipe over, if things do go past the point of no return.

One of the most important points to get right when cooking a curry is browning the onions – getting a deep golden color and sweet caramelized taste. This involves cooking for a long time over a low heat with stirring. So tip number one concerns “burning the onions”. If you burn them, remove the burnt bits and transfer the rest to a new, clean pan; otherwise you run the risk of that burnt flavor ruining the recipe. In many cases, it is better to discard the onion, and start again and you will only have wasted an onion, rather than destroying the whole thing.

Seasoning is very important also. Making a homemade curry too salty destroys the balance and flavors of the spices, as well as being extremely bad for your health. Tip two, for removing salt. If you accidentally add too much salt, add some pieces of potato, or some dough. Continue cooking until the stock has reduced, and then remove the potatoes or dough, and top up with fresh water. The potatoes/dough will have absorbed a lot of the extra salt.

Tip three is about the chili heat of your curry. Always err on the side of “mild”. While you can reduce the heat of a curry that turned out too hot, it is always easier to deliberately start with a small amount of chili, and then add more if it isn’t spicy enough. To do this, simply fry the extra chopped chili, with some curry spices in a little oil, and then add it to the curry. Make sure you remember how much chili you added in total, so next time you cook the recipe you will know roughly how much to add without needing to continually adjust.

  • Hunting for the Perfect Stock Image

Posted on January 28th, 2010 No comments

Are you a picture hunter, hunting for the perfect picture?  Are you looking for an image to put on the wall of your office or home?  Stock images may be just what you’re looking for.  They are photographs, illustrations and film footage taken by others.  The artists then sell their work to stock image companies  who sell them to you on the web.

There is quite a range in quality and price for stock images.  Images can be inexpensive.  $1 can buy you a basic, non-professional but often decent quality image.  The price range goes up from there.

The billionaire Bill Gates owns one of the world’s largest and most famous collections.  In fact, it is so valuable, and some pieces are so delicate, that it is housed 200 feet underneath the ground in a cave. The place where it is housed is called Iron Mountain, located in Pennsylvania.  It is difficult for artists to submit their work to Mr. Gates’ company, as they must be the cream of the crop. Obviously, the pieces for sale in his collection are quite expensive.

The online stock image sites offer sometimes millions of images, so the likelihood of you being able to find just the one you are looking for is quite high.

Let’s say you are an animal lover.  You went on safari recently and saw lions and tigers and bears, but you didn’t get a good photo.  If you go to a stock image site, you’ll often find pictures of wildlife in the wild; you’ll also see them posing in studios and in cartoon illustrations.  You’ll even find silly drawings of animals that children would like.

On a different vein, let’s say you’d like a picture for your office.  In order to deal with office stress, you want to find a picture that will calm you.  Looking at sunsets has always relaxed you.  If you go to one of these sites, you’ll find pictures of sunsets taken all over the world.

Have fun and enjoy searching for the perfect stock image.

  • How To Get A Loan If You’re Unemployed

Posted on January 28th, 2010 No comments

Not having a job is one of the most stressful things to deal with.  You’re broke and you have a lot of time on your hands!  It’s not possible to spend every waking minute looking for a job, plus you need money to keep the lights on and food in your belly.  So what can you do when you don’t have enough to make ends meet?  I’ll tell you in this post!

There are a few loans for the unemployed available.  They’re obviously very risky since you don’t have a job to pay them back and they’re expensive because the lender knows that you’re high risk.

The most common unemployed loan are car title loans.  Not every title lender will be willing to work with you if you don’t have a job, but it’s worth trying.  The premise of these loans is that you have a car that has been paid in full, have the title, and are the sole owner of it.  Your loan amount will depend on how much your car is worth, most auto title lenders will go as high as 50% of a car’s total value (which can be a lot of cash if you have a nice ride!).  In order for you to get this loan without a job you have to find a lender that doesn’t require proof of income.  These are secured loans, which means that your car will be repossessed if you fail to pay the loan back, which makes it really hard to go out and find a job!

If you receive monetary benefits there may be payday loans available.  Some lenders are willing to work with unemployment benefits, Social Security, and even structured settlement payments.  These are rare, but are becoming more common as the unemployment rate increases.

Getting a loan without a job isn’t impossible, but it takes some work.  If you live in an area where these loans are very rare, it might be easier to just get a job!

  • Looking For An All-Mountain Snowboard

Posted on January 28th, 2010 No comments

When you’re heading out to buy a new snowboard and you haven’t had a lot of snowboarding experience you should understand that it will all come down to the type of snowboarding that you plan on doing that will decide which one you buy. Early on in your progression you will be after a board that you can take anywhere on the mountain, that will allow you to perform the occasional trick and will slide smoothly through the snow.

By and large the Palmer Snowboard range is generally known as a stiff flex range of boards that are best suited to all-mountain boarding. They require a certain level of ability in the riders to be able to use the torsional flex properly. However this is not essential across the entire range of boards and if you are looking for a Palmer snowboard that can be adapted for the entire mountain including the freestyle park you might want to take a look at the Palmer Pulse snowboard.

The Palmer Pulse is a board that can be enjoyed all over the mountain on any terrain. Although it is probably best classed as an all-mountain board it can also be enjoyed as a freestyle board. It has a solid side cut, poppy flex and will allow easy torsion flex.

There are legions of fans that prefer these snowboards and consider the fact that they can go Palmer snowboarding – that is, snowboarding on a Palmer snowboard – a privilege that too few people have discovered. When a board delivers such a solid and reliable ride down the mountain it increases the pleasure immeasurably and is certainly one of the reasons that bring you back to the slopes season after season.

There are many different brands of snowboards available for all types of terrain, styles and standards, choosing the right one can sometimes be a lottery. Knowing a little about what flex can mean plus how the dimensions of a board will affect the performance will give you a head start in the process.

  • Choosing a Silver Wedding Cake Stand

Posted on January 28th, 2010 No comments

It’s time to make plans for your wedding cake and how it will be displayed at your reception. If you are planning a traditional or elegant wedding, you may want to consider one of the many silver wedding cake stands available today. Silver fits in with the color scheme of almost any wedding, and always seems to add a touch of class any time it is used in entertaining.

You can find silver pedestal cake stands and silver tiered cake stands, but the most popular by far is the silver plateau or “platform” cake stands. These beautiful silver-plated platforms are usually hand made and are available in all different sizes and shapes. You will usually want to select a stand that is just a bit larger than the bottom layer of your cake. For this reason it is a good idea to have your plans made for a cake when you begin shopping for a cake stand.

The silver wedding cake stands can be simple, with just a beveled or silver beaded edge, or they may be quite ornate, with complex patterns etched into the silver. These stands are usually very sturdy and are a good choice if you are planning to have a large cake with several layers.

If your cake is not that large, you may also want to consider a silver pedestal cake stand, which may be a good choice for a wedding with a more casual theme. If you like the look of layers displayed on several elevated tiers, you can also find 3 or 4 tiered silver wedding cake stands. Another option would be to use one of these silver tiered stands to hold cupcakes for your guests.

Whichever you end up choosing, a silver cake stand will showcase your wedding cake nicely and add a touch of class to your wedding reception.

  • Ninja Turtle Birthday Party Ideas

Posted on January 27th, 2010 No comments

Ninja Turtle birthday parties are almost as popular right now as they were in 1989 and 1990.  Their fame hasn’t seemed to fade over time, like many of the other early 90’s cartoons have.  Thanks to really good video games and a new cartoon series they are still hanging around and kicking Shredder’s butt.  In this post I want to offer some tips for planning a Ninja Turtle birthday party that I’ve gleaned from throwing one myself.

The key to hosting a successful TMNT birthday party is to do the things that the Turtles do.  That means that someone has to designate themselves as Michelangelo and be the “party dude!”  This person has to be in charge of keeping things going and very exciting.  The age level of the kids will determine what you do, but the options increase the older the kids are.  We were able to have a small video game tournament with a game on the Playstation where everyone played through a level and we timed them to see who could make it through the fastest.

Your food choice is simple, pizza.  That’s the Turtle’s food of choice, so it has to be in your party.  The type of pizza doesn’t really matter, so you can have it delivered or go somewhere.  Pizza can be pretty cheap, so this is an opportunity to save some money (think Little Caesars).

Dessert is easy too.  There are two retired Ninja Turtles cake pans that are really easy to find online that you can pick up and decorate yourself.  Usually, retired cake pans are pretty expensive, but these have somehow missed the collector’s wish lists and have remained very cheap.  Decorating the cake is easy too since they are very simple shaped cartoon characters.

Ninja Turtles birthday parties are a blast.  Use the simple tips that I’ve offered here and you’ll have as much fun at yours as we did!

  • A First Aid Kit for Your Cat

Posted on January 27th, 2010 No comments

A first kit is a must-have item if you are a cat owner. Cats, just like humans, are susceptible to accidents inside and outside the home, so we have to be always prepared in the case of a cat emergency, which can be something minor or something more serious. A first aid kit must come hand in hand with knowledge about some aspects of cat health like learning to recognize common sick cat symptoms and common cat health problems.

Some of the things a first aid kit for cats must contain include: scissors, tweezers, examination gloves, hydrogen peroxide, isopropyl rubbing alcohol, rectal thermometer, elastic bandage, antibiotic ointment, cotton balls and roll, adhesive tape, lubricant.

These are just some of the basic items that must be included. Also, you have to choose a proper container to hold all the necessary items. When you go out to buy a container for the first aid kit, first make sure it is easy to open, in cases of emergency there is nothing more frustrating and dangerous than a container that doesn’t open easily. And second, be sure it is easy recognizable so you can spot it quite easily in the room you want.

When you buy the first aid kit, put in an accessible place; think of a place where you can easily point a stranger to hand you the kit. At the same time if you have children around the house, keep it out of their reach to avoid any problems.

If you don’t have a cat first aid kit yet, nowadays you can find basic kits already prepared for you in some pet stores and specialized cat sites online. This is a great alternative if you need a well supplied kit. As time passes be sure to replace items and keep the kit well supplied.

  • The Healthrider H140e Elliptical Trainer

Posted on January 27th, 2010 No comments

The Healthrider H140e elliptical trainer is one of the Healthrider brands most popular fitness machines, and for good reasons. The Heathrider brand itself has been around for quite some time and has grown in popularity since Icon, the nations leading fitness manufacturer, purchased the brand many years ago. Since then, the brand has basically taken off in terms of popularity, and Icon has expanded the Healthrider product line. One of those expanded lines includes an expansion into the elliptical trainer market.

In the elliptical market, Icon markets three different brand of trainers, the Proform, the Healthrider, and the Nordic Track brands. All three brands are made from Icon and are backed by the companies very good manufacturing process (they don’t make junk, but of course their higher end lines are a little better). Healthrider is the brand that is a step up from Proform and is about on par with Nordick Track, depending on the model.

One of the models that is very popular in the Healthrider elliptical cross trainer line is the H140e. This model is the more expensive of the line, usually costing around $1,200 if you decide to purchase it online or if you can find it for sale at a local retailer (most of the main retailers carry the Healthrider line of elliptical machines). Highlights of this model include the following:

-15 different workouts, which will challenge you and keep you motivated and excited to workout each and every day on the elliptical machine
-a pretty decent heart rate monitor so you can monitor how you are doing
-an excellent ‘glide track’ system that makes workout on on the machine very smooth and easy to operate, allowing you to concentrate on getting a good cardio workout.

Finally, the coolest function that you will find on the H140e is the fact that it is a self-generating electronic machine–as in you power the electronic part as you workout, thus conserving energy and saving the environment as you get into shape!

  • 3 Essential Pieces of Workstation Furniture

Posted on January 27th, 2010 No comments

In the western world we seem to have developed a culture of five days a week sitting in front of a glowing screen for eight hours a day or more. This may not come as a surprise to you, but we really weren’t built to live like this at all. The chances are though, that like many others you really don’t have a choice so you may as well get used to it.

If you are one of the many that have to work at a computer all day then these three pieces of workstation furniture are vital to health:

    The correct desk
There’s not a lot to a desk, but if you can find a desk that has just a couple of inches of height adjustment it will be helpful in insuring that you can find exactly the right seating position. Many desks in the work place will not have this as a feature because it would look ‘untidy’ to have desks set at all different heights – but if you’re working at home you won’t have this constraint so make sure that you find one with at least a little bit of adjustment.

    The correct chair
This goes without saying – an office chair - it’s the main piece of furniture that you interact with. A good chair will support not constrain any movement you want to do and this is why swivel chairs have become so popular in the work place. Having a chair that moves in all directions provides support to your body no matter what direction you want to move in and this is ideal. As a minimum make sure that the chair you choose has height adjustment.

    A monitor stand
You monitor might not have a adjustable height but you can get a monitor stand. If you’re an employee and your boss won’t fork out to get you one, prop you monitor up on books and magazines – he’ll soon get you one.

With a combination of the above three pieces of  workstation furniture you will be able to achieve the perfect seating position and so should be able to work safely at your work station all day.

  • Testing Your Martial Arts Effectiveness

Posted on January 26th, 2010 No comments

There are hundreds of martial arts, each developed to try and improve what went before it. Most countries around the world have a local fighting system that can be considered as a martial art, whether it is the western boxing and wrestling found in the USA and Europe, or the countless ancient kung fu styles of China. There are the lesser known styles such as krav maga, used by the Israeli military, and the often baffling Brazilian art of capoeira. The majority of these martial arts styles, from wherever they originate, boast their superiority over all others. The question is, especially if you are studying a martial art yourself: Is my art really any good? Is is effective for self-defence?

The question is very difficult to answer since the martial arts practised today cannot be used in the manner for which they were originally devised. Several Chinese fighting systems – such as xingyiquan (shape intention boxing) and ying jow pai (eagle claw system) – were classed as battlefield styles, invented during feudal times, and with strikes designed to maim and kill enemy forces. Of course, today we cannot go around killing people to test the effectiveness of our martial art, and so a great deal of emphasis is placed on perfecting the techniques, doing “shadow boxing”. These shadow boxing routines are called “forms” in kung fu, or “kata” in Japanese arts such as karate.

In recent times, new sport-style martial arts have emerged, such as MMA (mixed martial arts) and shoot fighting, which are essentially full-contact sparring styles, with the vicious techniques removed. Unlike more regimented combat sports – for example, boxing – MMA allows a more all-inclusive range of techniques, from punching, kicking and knee-strikes, to throws and trips. The groundwork made famous by Brazilian jujitsu is also allowed, along with chokes, joint-locks and submission holds. The only attire allowed for MMA bouts is a pair of shorts (and a sports bra for women) and non-padded, fingerless MMA gloves.

So although you won’t get the self-defense realism of somebody trying to gouge your eyes, and other dirty tricks, you will get a thorough investigation of how effective your martial art actually is by doing some training with mixed martial arts fighters.

  • Non Secured Loans – The Collateral-Free Way To Get Cash

Posted on January 26th, 2010 No comments

If you have been hesitant about obtaining a loan because you don’t want to front collateral, a non secured is the best loan option for you. Unlike other loans, and even some credit cards, you are not required to front any collateral with a non secured loan.

A non secured loan provides you with instant access to quick cash. You can use the loan to roll some of your credit card debt together and receive a check for the rest of the money. It is a great way to pay for expensive purchases that you cannot afford any other way. Be careful when you borrow money as some people get carried away with instant access to cash and they borrow more than they need. This could cause you to have greater financial problems because you cannot afford the monthly payment amount and you end up paying a large amount of money toward the interest charges.

Since the economy has been struggling recently, many people are turning to non secured loans to pay for emergency expenses. Here are a few reasons why you might consider using a non secured loan:

    • To pay for unexpected medical expenses
    • To pay your rent or mortgage
    • To pay for large tax bills
    • Paying off large credit card debt with high interest rate
    • Paying for education expenses
    • Purchasing appliances that un-expectantly broke

If you are living in a condo or townhouse, your home owners association may make decisions that can be costly to you. They may decide to stucco the outside of your building or to re-shingle the roof. When they make these decisions, you are usually required to come up with $6,000 in a short amount of time. A non secured loan can really help you out when you are dealing with this type of situation as it is the best way to come up with the quick cash you need in a hurry.

  • Love to Rent DVDs Online

Posted on January 26th, 2010 No comments

If you’ve read any of my earlier posts, you will know for sure that I’m a massive fan of watching movies. From my local movie theater, where I watch all the latest blockbusters, to my local DVD rental store where I rent all the movies I want to see again or missed the first time round for some reason. And then of course there are online DVD rentals.

It didn’t surprise me recently when I read that over 30 million homes are subscribed to an online DVD rental service, because there are some very good reasons why renting online is a great way to see all the movies you want:

    1. Choice – Whatever type of movie you like, chances are you will find it on a site such as trynetflix.com. They have more than 100,000 movie titles available to rent, so you can be pretty certain they will have what you want. You sometimes have to wait a few days for the latest releases, but you will receive them eventually.

    2. Movie Previews – Almost all the sites have the facility to watch movie clips before you rent. Added to that, you can read movie reviews from customers that have already watched the film – with a little luck; you’ll never rent a movie that sucks, ever again.

    3. Never Pay Late Fees Again – Hands up if you’ve ever forgotten to return a video or DVD to the rental shop on time……..me too! One of the best features when online DVD rentals first started was the guarantee of no late fees. I used to get really ticked off when I was a couple of hours late returning a disk to be charged an extra day’s rental.

There are not many areas of our lives that haven’t been touched and improved in some way by the Internet. And there’s no doubt that companies like Blockbusters, Netflex.com, and DVD Avenue have transformed the way we now watch movies at home. The market for DVD rentals is fiercely competitive and there are some great deals to be had – it’s well worth looking out for these deals before you sign up and even if you have a current membership.

  • Cornhole Bags – How to Avoid Low Quality

Posted on January 25th, 2010 No comments

If you have recently started playing the game of corn toss, then you know how important it is to purchase the right kind of cornhole bags.  Buying high-quality bags is essential if you want them to last longer than a few games.  Many manufacturers claim that their bags are strong, durable and able to take a beating.  However, there are a few tell-tale signs that indicate whether you have been ripped off with a substandard product.

First, if the company you buy your cornhole bags from refuses to mention what type of fabric they are using, then go somewhere else.  The failure to inform the buyer of the particular fabric material used is the first sign that the company in question is using a cheap, store-bought, low-grade fabric.  Many manufacturers use these materials because they are incredible low-cost, easily available, and the company assumes the buyer hasn’t done their homework, so therefore, doesn’t care.

If the bags have sport team logos imprinted on them, there is a good chance this material is not designed for the heavy duty use that cornhole requires.  This cheap variant, also called trigger cloth, is better suited for drapes and bed sheeting; not for cornhole bags which must stand up to the riggers and abuse of many years of play.  Make sure that any company you purchase your bags from uses a fabric called duck cloth, also known as duck canvas or cotton canvas.  This material is strong, durable and will not fray or unravel with heavy use.  Be sure the cloth is 10 oz-grade or higher – anything lower in grade is substandard material and a waste of your money.

Next, if you find your bags splitting open on a continuous basis and the corn-filler falling out, then it’s likely that the bags you purchased were stitched with poor quality thread.  Make sure the cornhole store specifies that it uses high-quality nylon thread.  Nylon thread resists elements such as moisture and UV rays and will stand the test of time.  Low-grade cotton or polyester threads don’t have the synthetic qualities of nylon and will lose their tensile strength very quickly.  Also, double or triple-stitched bags are best.

Lastly, to avoid buying cheap bags, make sure the manufacturer uses only whole kernel corn.  Cheaper filler material such as cracked corn, beans, or seeds will break down much faster than whole kernel corn and before you know it your bags could be nothing but a pile of mush.

If you take the above precautions you can avoid buying substandard cornhole bags and can be certain that you have purchased a high-quality product that will last a long time.
